Models wore fashions from Trend Society, Hommework and other downtown boutiques during the second annual Bring it Downtown fashion show at The Place at Union Plaza Sunday. Girls in the 15-18 100-yard freestyle event left their marks during the City of El Paso Private League Championship Meet Saturday at Pavo Real Aquatic Center. More than 800 swimmers participated in the two-day event. The El Paso Country Club swim team under coach Vito Cancellare won the team competition with 1,260.5 points. The El Paso Tennis Club swim team under coach Nicole Driscoll came in second with 897.5 points while the Santa Teresa Country Club swim team won third place with 567 points. Firefighters tended to the driver of a vehicle at top of photo who crashed his car into a traffic signal pole along the South bound lanes of N. Mesa at Sun Bowl Drive Sunday. The male driver, who was given water at the scene did not appear to be injured. The car was heavily damaged. The South-bound lanes of N. Mesa were closed for more than two hours. Valerie Baltazar, 17, right, and her mother, Teresa Baltazar were next in line to get her passport application processed during a passport fair at the El Paso County Courthouse Saturday. The District Clerk Passport Service Division has held a number of passport fairs to accommodate the thousands of people needing passports to re-enter the U.S. at all port of entry. Last month a passport fair at the El Paso County Coliseum processes about 500 applications. Another passport fair is planned for August, a District Clerk's Office official said.
