Christmas: Adopt-a-Soldier

This is the first time the base teamed up with local families to provide soldiers assigned to the base a home-cooked meal for Christmas.

The program typically takes place during Thanksgiving. But officials at Fort Bliss wanted to offer soldiers with more options Maj. Myles Caggins, Fort Bliss spokesman said. A total of 20 soldiers were adopted this year. Each had the option of deciding whether they wanted to be hosted for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Photos by Mark Lambie / El Paso Times.
