Hundreds of friends attended the burial of UTEP student Alejandro Ruiz Salazar, 19, and former UTEP student Jorge Pedro Gonzalez Quintero, 21, on Wednesday in Juarez. They were buried side by side at Jardines Eternos. The two were gunned down Sunday on a highway that links Juarez and Villa Ahumada. No one has been arrested. Ruiz is believed to be the first UTEP student killed in the Juarez drug war, which began in 2008. Special to the Times
